The Australian Scout Group Locator started off as a map of the Tyakunda District, and tried to show driving directions to each of the groups. Some nearby groups were added, and the driving directions discarded. It then evolved to the Queensland Scout Mapping Project, showing almost all of the scout groups in Queensland. It has now been expanded and redesigned to be Australia wide, and easier to use. Groups are added from details on their websites, and from details received via email.
From a programmers point of view, it is an XHTML 1.0 document, using javascript and cascading stylesheets (css). The maps are based around the Google Maps v2 Javascript API. The pages are W3 Standards compliant, and have been designed to work on most common web browsers.
